The owners loved their Snug Harbor home and its setting but wanted it brought up to date as a cozy, casual space made for family and entertaining. Rather than start over, we renewed it: opening and brightening the living spaces, raising the original step-down living room level with the rest of the home, refreshing every bath, and adding a wood-ceiling lanai that turned the backyard into the best room in the house. Behind the refresh, we hardened the whole house for the coast, with hurricane strapping and impact glass throughout. The character stayed. Everything else moved forward.
We opened the main living area, added built-ins and a linear fireplace, and let daylight move through rooms that had felt closed and dated for years.
The living room was originally a step down from the rest of the home. We raised and filled it to sit flush with the surrounding floors, so the whole main level now reads as one open, easy space to move through and gather in.
New wood vanities, backlit mirrors, and clean tilework brought the baths up to date while keeping the calm, coastal feel of the original home.
Behind the refresh, we reinforced and storm-hardened the entire home, adding hurricane strapping and installing impact glass windows and doors throughout. Much of it you will never see, and that is the point: peace of mind built into the walls.
A bright red entry door against fresh siding gives the home real personality from the street, a small change that resets the whole first impression.
They respected what we loved about the house and fixed everything we did not. It feels like our home again, only better.
